CYcling Country Volunteers Needed for RAGBRAI 2008
6/12/2008 12:00:00 AM
The Ames RAGBRAI committee needs your help to host the over 20,000 visitors that will be in Ames on Tuesday, July 22 and Wednesday, July 23 for the RAGBRAI overnight stop. Volunteering is a great way to show support for RAGBRAI as well as open up our community to the thousands of RAGBRAI riders and supporters.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available including assistance with hospitality, information booths, camground activity, transportation, and evening festival activity. Volunteer as an individual or with a group of friends, co-workers or teammates! Volunteers will receive Official CYcling Country t-shirts, which are yellow tie-dye with the Official CYcling Country mark on the back. To sign up as a CYcling Country volunteer, fill out the online form or download the printable version at www.amesragbrai.com.
Hospitality volunteers are needed at both the RAGBRAI Welcome and Farewell to encourage and cheer on riders as they pedal their way in and out of Ames. Information volunteers are also needed to help welcome riders, answer questions about the event, and hand out maps and information about Ames.
Transportation volunteers will be responsible for helping out with daily shuttles as well as guiding visitors to shuttle stops and various RAGBRAI activities. Festival and campground volunteers will work at the entrances to each area, welcoming guests and riders.
Volunteers are also needed to provide housing for RAGBRAI riders. Riders and hosts will be paired up by group size and facility needs. To volunteer to host riders, please fill out the printable form at www.amesragbrai.org or at www.storyhousing.org.
Volunteering is a great way to get your group or team involved in the community. Sign up to be a CYcling Country volunteer today!
